this has puzzled me for a considerable amount of my lifetime.why can’t you wait for your toys?since the concept of ‘money’ evolved, exceptionally clever people have made a great deal of money by letting those somewhat less clever ‘borrow’ money in order to purchase goods which they could not, at that time, afford to pay for with their own money.it was referred to as ‘usury’, and was once considered a rather shadowy and ugly trade to pursue.now all is bright smiles, plastic cards and an actual ‘lifestyle’.the generation of my parents looked upon personal debt as a reflection of an individuals lack of fortitude and self control. personal debt was an abberation and should be avoided if at all possible.my generation has been well tutored, by the unstoppable machine of consumerism/capitalism, and certain highly educated and dangerous cretins [gordon brown present and correct] to believe that it is possible to have every little bauble you wish for, without actually having the financial capacity to pay for any of them.this strikes me, once again, as something akin to a mental illness.why can’t you wait for your toys?people speak of their personal debt as if it were akin to an illness, like a cold. they speak of it as if it were something that ‘just happened’ to them, like the weather.what utter fucking nonsense.you decided to take out the loan. you decided to purchase the goods on credit.you decided to run up that personal debt you can barely service.and to what ends?are you happier?or less happy?or do you need to buy the next bauble on the [endless] list. you know the one.it’s the one that will finally make you ‘really’ happy.in a consumerist world, true happiness is only ever afforded with the next product you buy.consumerism is happiness permanently deferred.i saw the ‘credit crunch’ as inevitable.entire nations are still on the brink of bankruptcy.nations!i look, consider and decide.this is collective mental illness.[apologies to nat and gabe in advance]end of transmission.though i could say more.best to thee all.the|G|?**n.b.** i know only too well that credit has its place, and used wisely can be of much benefit.i refer here [once again] to those poor saps who will go to any lengths simply too keep pace, or overtake, their peers in terms of trinkets and toys.i really do think this to be an example of collective mental instability.the|G|?
